ISPA Shifts to Quarterly Bedding Reports

In the first quarter of next year, the association will begin issuing the Bedding Market Quarterly.
In addition to adopting a frequency that aligns with industry best practices, Bedding Market Quarterly will offer a comprehensive and useful data presented in a visually appealing format with enhanced accessibility.
“ISPA member surveys tell us that the industry wants better access to the statistical data we publish, and they are looking for different kinds of information that will help them respond to ever changing market dynamics,” said Ryan Trainer, ISPA president. “Our decision to move to quarterly reporting is an exciting development for ISPA, our members and those that rely on our data and analysis,” said ISPA President Ryan Trainer. “Bedding Market Quarterly will provide ISPA members and subscribers with more useful data that also aligns with industry reporting practices. We will strive to stay at the leading edge of bedding industry reporting and believe this new quarterly report will add value for our members.”
Current plans call for the new format to:
* Simplify mattress data reporting to include total mattress sales on a quarterly basis, replacing monthly reports and innerspring vs. non-innerspring categories.
* Include more accurate data on imported mattresses. Previously, ISPA published official U.S. import data for mattresses, which included a confusing mixture of both human and pet beds. ISPA has worked with U.S. Customs and others to develop different reporting criteria that will provide the industry with more accurate data, focused only on imported human mattresses.
* Help members and subscribers access information faster and more easily by making the reports more versatile and user-friendly.
ISPA’s statistical program includes the new Bedding Market Quarterly, the Mattress Industry Forecast, a semi-annual forecast of industry shipments, and its Annual Report of Sales and Trends, a comprehensive look at current and historical mattress industry performance.
