IIDA Sets Advocacy Symposium for Next Year
October 28,
2015 by in Designer Weekly
The event will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver Sept. 23-25. The group’s first advocacy symposium was held last month.
Building on the success of the recent event, next year’s symposium will energize and encourage interior design advocates as they learn to refine and execute advocacy strategy that articulates the value and mission of interior design.
“The 2015 Advocacy Symposium was an invigorating experience that brought together more than 90 attendees, speakers, and staff who highlighted the passion, dedication, and persistence of amazing design advocates from across the country,” said Cheryl S. Durst, executive vice president and CEO of IIDA. “We have no doubt that next year’s symposium will exceed our expectations as we take a deep dive into the strategies IIDA members can employ to educate the public and legislators about the impact commercial interior designers have on business, productivity, and worker health and welfare.”
Topics will include determining optimal advocacy strategy; how advocacy can increase the public understanding of the value of design; how to energize and mobilize colleagues and constituents; and connecting and engaging in dialogue with local and national government representatives.
