More than 60 students from four universities including Florida State University, the University of Minnesota, Auburn University and Appalachian State University will be participating in The Groovystuff by Design: Connecting Education with Industry Challenge for the fall 2015 academic semester.
They will debut their final design projects at High Point Market, Oct. 17-22, in The University Hall of Innovation & Job Creation at the Suites at Market Square. Students from each school will submit a product board, scale model and pedestal for their models, and the winning design from each school will receive a $250 cash prize.
Dallas-based Groovystuff is sponsoring the sustainable program that has been endorsed by the four participating universities. It has also been endorsed by Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, Columbia College – Chicago, the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, North Carolina State University, Purdue University, the Art Institute of Las Vegas, the University of Georgia, Marywood University, the University of Idaho, the University of Oregon and KMITL in Bangkok, Thailand.
The University Hall of Innovation & Job Creation is an industry co-operative founded by Chris Bruning that aims to bridge the gap between education and the residential home furnishings industry. It provides an opportunity for students and professors to network with retailers, designers, manufacturers, suppliers, journalists and industry professionals at High Point Market.
