Projects by interior designers, architects and design students based in the region were honored during the recent Summer 2015 Las Vegas Market.
“Las Vegas Design Center and Las Vegas Market are pleased and proud to recognize excellence in the field of interior design with creation of this new awards program, bestowing honors on eight exciting and trendsetting design projects,” said Marsha Timson, director of Las Vegas Design Center. “The ANDYZ awards further extend the relationship between Las Vegas Market with the local interior design community and also reinforce the positioning of Las Vegas Design Center and Las Vegas Market as the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States.”
The ANDYZ awards, named to bear the resemblance of Annual Nevada Design, were created to recognize exceptional design from designers and design firms based in Nevada and Central California. The first ANDYZ winners and categories include: Stephen Leon of Soleil Design, Las Vegas, for “Custom Furnishing Product Design;” Bruce Benning of Benning Design Associates, Sacramento, Calif., for “Individual Commercial Space;” Casey Clark and Jennifer Remaklus of MBA Architecture & Interior Design, Reno, Nev., for “Individual Hospitality Space;” Amy Strodl of Varnish Design, Las Vegas, for “Individual Residential Space;” Dalton, Steelman, Arias, & Anderson (DSAA), Las Vegas, for “Multiple Hospitality Spaces;” Jane Cunningham of Room Resolutions, Las Vegas, for “Multiple Residential Spaces;” Nar Bustamante of Nar Fine Carpentry, Inc., Sacramento, Calif., for “Residential Kitchen Design;” and Sheryl Gordon, Las Vegas, for “Student Design.”
The ANDYZ Awards were open to all design firms, independent designers, and students located in Nevada or Central California (Central California encompasses any city within 125 miles of the following locations: Fresno, Calif., Sacramento Calif., or Lake Tahoe). Interior design projects in residential, commercial and hospitality categories were judged by a panel of professional ASID designers, and judging focused on five main criteria: presentation; innovation/creative use of space; scale and functionality; aesthetics, and overall execution.
