LV Design Center Sets Interior Design Competition

The Las Vegas Design Center (LVDC) will host a new design awards program titled “ANDYZ,” in partnership with the California Central/Nevada Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

The ANDYZ will recognize and celebrate the year’s best interior design. Projects by interior designers, architects and design students based in the region will be honored in nine categories at the inaugural ANDYZ awards during the Summer 2015 Las Vegas Market, Aug. 2-6.

“Las Vegas Design Center and Las Vegas Market are pleased to strengthen ties with the local interior design community through the creation of this awards program,” said Marsha Timson, director of Las Vegas Design Center. “The ANDYZ awards will serve to recognize the best of the best in regional interior design projects, and reinforce the positioning of Las Vegas Design Center and Las Vegas Market as the leading furniture, home décor and gift destination in the western United States.”

Las Vegas Design Center serves as a year-round resource for the regional interior design community, and a resource for buyers in the furniture and home décor categories. Located in Building A, the center showcases 30 showrooms and hundreds of leading manufacturers’ lines in furniture, decorative accessories, wall décor, lighting, floor coverings, fabrics and trim.

The ANDYZ awards, named to bear the resemblance of “Annual Nevada Design,” were created to recognize exceptional design from designers and design firms based in Nevada and Central California.

Interior design projects in residential, commercial and hospitality categories will be judged by a panel of professional ASID designers. Winners will be recognized at an awards gala Sunday, Aug. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the WorldView Ballroom on the 16th Floor of Building B.

The awards competition is open to all design firms, independent designers, and students located in Nevada or Central California (Central California encompasses any city within 125 miles of the following locations: Fresno, Calif.,  Sacramento, Calif., or Lake Tahoe, Nev.). Categories include: Student Project, for students enrolled in 2015; Custom Furnishing/Product Design, not including a manufacturer’s product; Residential Kitchen Project; Individual Residential Space, such as a bedroom, bathroom, media room, living room, laundry room, outdoor space, or garage, not including a kitchen; Multiple Residential Spaces, within the same residence; Individual Commercial Space; Multiple Commercial Spaces, within the same commercial property; Individual Hospitality Space; and Multiple Hospitality Spaces, within the same hospitality property.

All entries must be received by May 29, 2015. Entry fees are $100 for the first entry and $50 for each additional entry; student fees are $20 per entry. There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted. Judging will focus on five main criteria: presentation; innovation/creative use of space; scale and functionality; aesthetics, and overall execution. Official entry forms, contest rules and guidelines, are available online.
