Leggett Innersprings Earn Made in USA Certification

To designate the steel as Made in USA Certified, a third-party verifier of Country of Origin claims traced raw materials back to their sources and examined the entire supply chain. Leggett & Platt’s steel originates in its mill in Sterling, Ill., where recycled scrap metal is turned into steel rod. That rod is drawn into wire at one of the company’s wire mills and then formed into innersprings.
“For more than 130 years, people have trusted Leggett & Platt innersprings for comfort and support,” said Eric Rhea, president of the bedding group at Leggett & Platt. “We’re proud to continue showing our commitment to quality, while supporting American families, jobs and the economy.”
To tout the certification, the company has created Made in USA Certified hangtags showing which products earned the designation.
“Shoppers may not ask about every step of our process, but Made in USA matters to a lot of people,” said Mark Kinsley, vice president of marketing for the bedding group. “We want our manufacturing and retail partners to be able to tell the story of homegrown products on the sales floor.”
The company is offering kits to retailers that include the sales floor materials.
