Dallas Market Center to Maintain Winter 2016 Dates

The Dallas Market Center will maintain its previously set Winter Market dates through 2018 despite the recent announcement by Las Vegas Market officials to shift that show’s winter 2016 schedule.
Dallas Market Center president and CEO Bill Winsor released a letter to the Market’s exhibitors Thursday outlining the decision.
Officials with the Las Vegas Market announced earlier this week that the event’s date will shift a week putting the Market dates at Jan. 24-28. The new dates sit atop the last three days of the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market set for Jan. 20-26.
In the letter, Winsor said Dallas would remain consistent with its dates through 2018 as announced in September.
“Experimenting with market dates at the expense of customers is always a losing strategy, especially for the manufacturers, showroom owners, and sales reps who deserve a set of market dates clear from overlap,” Winsor wrote. “Dallas and Atlanta have been managing markets for more than five decades and have maintained a consistent date pattern for the benefit of customers unless otherwise unavoidable: Atlanta is the first major market of the winter show cycle followed by Dallas, and Dallas is the first market of the summer show cycle followed by Atlanta.”
The letter continued with a shot at the Las Vegas Market officials.
“We know the folks in Las Vegas are relatively new at managing markets but if they were truly committed to the customer in 2016 as they claim, they would have simply moved their market to begin three days later on the 27th of January and avoided any overlaps with existing markets,” Winsor wrote.
