OMI Reports on 1st Retailer Council Meeting

The 12-member panel, created to generate an interactive dialogue with dealers, kicked off their initiative by tackling the size and weight issues that can present challenges during the warehousing and delivery processes. As a result, OMI, Yuba City, Calif., is planning to introduce a new line for the Winter Las Vegas furniture Market that will be designed to address these concerns.
“In the past, I have been shown pictures of the extreme lengths retailers go to while delivering latex mattresses to the home. As retailers explained storage and delivery processes, we knew there was a better way to build latex moving forward,” said OMI Chief Executive Officer Kurt Ling. “We are building a program to respond to each challenge our retailers brought up in our meeting. They provided direction, clarity and priority and because of their insights, we are more aware of how to design our products and be able to meet the needs of our retailers and consumers alike. Our company culture is deeply rooted in providing our consumer with the best product available.”
Ling added that the weight and size issue was exactly the type of topic that the retailer council was designed to address.
“This is precisely the kind of partnership we were looking to create with our dealers," he said. "It is not always about new components or fabric. Sometimes, a very meaningful innovation can come from something as obscure as size and weight. A council like this puts important topics for our retailers at the forefront of the discussion.”
