Pre-fabricated home builder LivingHome has combined forces with actor Brad Pitt’s non-profit group Make It Right to create a new standard for sustainable, affordable construction as part of Greenbuild 2014.
Recently, the company installed a new home in the Lower Ninth Ward in New Olreans. That area is still struggling to recover from the devastation of hurricane Katrina. A teacher, first responder or former resident will be selected by Make It Right to live in the LivingHome.
More than 100 LEED Platinum homes from architects like Frank Gehry, Kieran Timberlake and Shigeru Ban are going into the area.
Make it Right was founded in 2007 by actor Brad Pitt. The organization is a non-profit that builds sustainable homes, buildings and communities for people in need. The group’s first project was in New Orleans. Make it Right also has projects in Newark, N.J., Kansas City, Mo., and the Fort Peck Reservation near Wolfpoint, Mont.
Contributions for the crowdfunding of the LivingHome house can be made online.
