Optimism of High Point Market's Future Strong

Funding from public and private sources is helping High Point Market leaders bring more people to the world’s largest home furnishings trade show.
That was one of the points made at the High Point Market Authority Board of Directors meeting Wednesday.
The market authority has brought in about $400,000 in sponsorship money in recent years. State funding remains at $1.85 million, and market leaders said they were buoyed by Gov. Pat McCrory’s visit to market on Monday.
“He very strongly indicated, as long as he is governor, our funding will be safe going forward,” said market authority board Chairman Doug Bassett. “He has a wealth of ideas of things we can do to grow the market.”
