“Our collections have always been engineered to bring the highest level of design to meet the ever-changing technological needs of our customers,” said Bill Becker, founder and CEO of BDI, Chantilly, Va. “And for the last 30 years, we’ve been able to do that while also enriching the home and the home theater and office experience.”
BDI began in 1984 with Becker’s vision. An industrial designer by training, he was always fascinated by the way that the products we interact with daily can positively affect our lives. The company started with several successful table collections including the Cities and Perimeter tables. BDI then went on to introduce--and subsequently become a leading supplier of--contemporary mirrors.
In 1995, sensing a void in the market for quality home theater furniture, BDI introduced the Ventura collection of TV stands. More full-featured cabinets followed and BDI became the first home theater manufacturer to introduce innovations such as hidden wheels, adjustable shelves, cable management and flow-through ventilation as standard features. In 2009, BDI took this technical experience and set its eyes on the home office, introducing the Sequel collection that combined beautiful styling with the technological needs of a workspace. Today, BDI has established itself as a leader in home theater and office furniture innovation and has recently expanded the line to include versatile modular systems.
“Our success is only possible with the continuing support of our dealer base and the loyalty from existing customers; many of whom have been with us since the beginning,” said Becker. “Our customers rely on our commitment to deliver the best, high performance furniture for the price. What we do—and how we do it—allows us to set industry standards and maintain a level of success for many years to come.”
BDI's High Point showroom is space D-523 in the IHFC's Design Center.
