Three events will bring together a number of talented individuals from the interior design, art and architecture worlds to create beautiful dining environments. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Michigan AIDS Coalition.
The events start tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 17) at 6 p.m. with the Cocktails by Design.
Guests will enjoy a feast for the eyes amidst innovative designer tables and rooms created by Michigan’s foremost interior designers, architects and artists. Food created by 25 top local restaurants will be judged by food critics from the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Hour Detroit, Between the Lines and The Hungry Dudes.com. Wines from Dark Horse wines and specialty cocktails made with Patrón Tequila will compliment the tasting. A silent auction will have patrons circling tables to get the top bid, while a DJ spins music to move the crowd.
ArtWorks Detroit is set for Friday (Sept. 18) at 6 p.m. where attendees can bid on more than 150 works of original art by Michigan artists.
Artist Tony Roko, who has commissioned pieces for Lady Gaga and Jay Leno, will create an original painting on site, which will be available for auction on the spot. Artist John Sauve has also donated, “Unfaust,” a massive sculpture in Ferndale to MAC. Those in attendance will have to chance to have their name attached to this magnificent piece of public art when 25 placard spots are put on the auction block at the event. Guests will also view the dining installations, enjoy elegant hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails and live entertainment.
The Dining by Design Detroit gala is set for Saturday (Sept. 20) at 6 p.m.
Tablescapes created by Michigan’s top interior and industrial designers, and architects will become interactive dining areas where guests will feast on a gourmet dinner prepared by local chefs. DINING BY DESIGN will feature top-shelf cocktails by Patrón, wines by Dark Horse, silent and live auctions, live musical performances and a fashion presentation by the Detroit Garment Group Guild.
