KEM N.J. Show Goes Once a Year
August 20,
2014 by in Market
“I am very excited that the 66th Edison Furniture & Accessory Market will be an annual February event and every February, thereafter,” said KEM Owner Larry Karel.
According to Karel, many in the industry prefer that the major markets be held yearly, rather than on a semi-annual basis.
"With the economy slipping as it has for so long who knows what is ahead of us?" Karel said. "One show a year is sufficient and for us, and that time of year is the winter. The industry can buy for the rest of the year, and if they should wish to reorder, they always can contact their manufacturer’s representative or wholesaler for additional goods to carry them through.
“The response to our announcement at the August Edison show was amazing and a number of companies secured additional square footage for 2015 knowing they will see the regional buyers of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania along with other surrounding states just once a year.”
Karel reports that news of the annual Edison show has received extremely positive reaction, and that the move was endorsed by the Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Association.
“It’s all about bringing the products to the buyer and writing business. We want our exhibitors to grow and prosper with us,” Karel said.
Now that space assignments are underway for February 2015, Karel’s team is reposting that exhibitors are extremely happy with attending the Edison show on an annual basis.
“Why are industry members happy? It is called money. They do not have to repeat all the steps that are costly to them in order to participate," Karel said. "In addition, the excitement of just one show in the east a year is already creating excitement and should expand the size of the market considerably.”
Karel Exposition Management is the nation's largest producer of regional furniture and accessory trade shows. The Edison show, the largest of its kind in the northeast, is open to furniture stores, interior designers, specialty stores from the furniture industry as well as hotels and motels.
KEM has been producing trade shows since 1952.
