Latex International Shifts Production

Four days after a fire in its Shelton, Conn., facility, Latex International has increased production at its Texas plant and tapped into warehouse inventory reserves around the country to meet interim shipment needs for its customers.
The company said that power was restored to office areas of the Connecticut plant and that most of its systems were up and running by the close of business Monday. Earlier in the day a small fire flared from remnants of the product that burned last week, which was not fully removed from the same dryer. The fire was immediately brought under control by the fire department, which was still on the site. The dryer now poses no additional threat.
“I am grateful to our employees who worked very hard this past week to assure we were meeting the needs of our customers as best as we could during this disruption. Our Texas team stepped up production and our operations people in Connecticut did a great job moving quickly to clean and power-up the plant,” said Latex International President and CEO David Fisher. “I want to personally thank the all of our customers who have shown their continued support by calling us and placing orders during this time, as well as recognize the efforts and tireless hours on the part of the employees of our company.”
Fisher added that following the fire, Latex International has been the target of false statements and misleading remarks, and that it had engaged its legal team to take all appropriate steps in response to any misrepresentation of the facts about the fire or the status of its Chapter 11 proceedings.
“In Regard to our Chapter 11 case, we are moving forward as scheduled with the reorganization process," Fisher said. "Our Chapter 11 attorney has confirmed that despite the fire and any rumors to the contrary, the company remains in complete control of all its operations and assets, like any other debtor-in-possession.”
