Latex International Factory Undergoing Cleanup from Fire

Clean up and an investigation following a fire in the Shelton, Conn., factory of Latex International is on hold until water is removed from the plant.

A fire that started at the factory early Thursday morning ignited in the basement where the company houses drying equipment. Four firefighters were injured battling the blaze.

Officials were pumping water out of the building last Thursday afternoon in an effort to speed along the process.

“At this stage, the company is working on ways of minimizing any disruption of service to its customers.  Our top priority is restoring manufacturing capability to cause the least disruption to our customers,” said David Fisher, Latex International president and CEO.

Earlier this month, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
