Ethan Allen Launches Lithograph Line

Vertically integrated home furnishings brand Ethan AllenEA_lithographs will launch its Modern Masters Collection, a limited-edition line of rare and collectible lithographs legendary artists of the 20th century, this week.

The collection, originally produced by the leading lithographer of the time, Atelier Mourlot, includes works of Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Salvador Dalí, Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger and Joan Miró, among many others.

Each of the 81 artworks in the Modern Masters Collection was printed by a master craftsman, often working directly with the artist. While some of these works have come up for auction at Christie's or Sotheby's or been available at museum galleries, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Tate in London, a collection of this magnitude has never been made available before.

Some pieces are signed by the artist, and each comes with a certificate of provenance that is dated and numbered, then hand-signed and stamped. All are framed by hand in Ethan Allen's American workshop, using acid-free materials and conservation-quality, UV-filtering glass.

"We are so pleased to be making this collection available to our clients," said Farooq Kathwari, CEO of Ethan Allen, Danbury, Conn. "The artistry and beauty is breathtaking, and they're the reason we were inspired to introduce our first-ever modern art collection. It is thrilling to bring this diverse group of rare and collectible artwork together and to make it available online to our clients."

Prices for the Modern Masters Collection start at $589. The stock of works ranges from a dozen or so for some of the artworks to more than a hundred for other pieces. And since quantities are limited, when the stock is gone, there will not be another opportunity to purchase the art.

The Modern Masters Collection will debut Saturday at 7 p.m. (eastern) during a virtual gallery opening on ethanallen.com. Shoppers also can purchase the art at any Ethan Allen Design Center (where the collection will be available to view on touch-screens). Anyone who visits the site or a Design Center will get a firsthand look at these limited-quantity works of art.
