In 1994, with its first contingent on the show floor of New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the BEDG announced its arrival as a force on the global design scene. In the two decades since, BEDG participants have won numerous ICFF Editors Awards.
"Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the BEDG at the ICFF is a very happy occasion," said BEDG founder Karin-Beate Phillips. "In the last two decades, the market for global design has grown exponentially. With our annual exhibit at the ICFF, we have played a significant role in extending the reach of international design across North America.”
Since 1991, the BEDG has taken more than 4,800 British companies, institutions, and individuals to exhibit in key export markets and has accessed government and non-government funding to do so.
“In two decades of exhibiting at the ICFF, Karin-Beate Phillips and the participating companies of the BEDG contingent have been instrumental in cementing the ICFF’s position as North America’s primary event for global contemporary design," said Kevin O'Keefe, GLM senior vice president. "We have grown together over the years, and look forward to doing so as the market for great modern products continues to expand in new directions in the U.S. and around the world."
One of 11 contingents at the 26th annual ICFF, the BEDG continues to be one of the ICFF’s largest exhibitors. This year’s 55 BEDG companies will participate.
