Bassett Mirror to Launch Acrylic Art Line

Bassett Mirror Co. will launch a new line of photo-acrylic wall art at April High Point Furniture Market.

Almost 40 sleek, sophisticated pieces are designed to complement the Bassett, Va.-based company's furniture and home accents. The collection, which targets young, design-savvy consumers, will focus on dazzling color and crisp images without frames in a variety of popular sizes.

"Our framed art business is experiencing double-digit growth because we have improved our quality and targeted our designs to a younger, affluent consumer," said Spencer Morten, Bassett Mirror's CEO. "When considering a new medium they might want from us, the answer was obvious: Contemporary, high-resolution photography behind acrylic."

The initial launch will feature the photography of two American artists--Sharon Canter and Mitchell Bloch.

Canter is a well-known North Carolina landscape artist and photographer, and her work is available exclusively through Bassett Mirror Co. Canter was awarded "Best in Show" for the 10th annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition in 2013.

Bloch is an award-winning photographer with more than 30 years of experience. A master of dimension and space, Bloch is known for his warm personality and ability to evoke depth in his subjects.

In developing this new line, Bassett Mirror tested current market pricing and found existing acrylic offerings priced beyond the reach of many consumers. In response, the company identified ways to offer the same high-quality, fashion-forward art at a significantly more affordable price point. Suggested retail prices will range from $299 for a 30 inch-by-40 inch photo-acrylic to $799 for a 48 inch-by-72 inch size.

"Our trend analysts identified acrylic prints during recent Paris shows, and we have noticed this trend at the most sophisticated lifestyle and designer retail stores," said Morten. "So we feel our timing to make it affordable and available to our broad customer mix makes good business sense. Our broad selection will allow many retailers to find subjects that resonate in their home markets."

The company's acrylic art collection is made entirely in the United States, with printing, manufacturing and shipping based in North Carolina and Virginia. Part of the company's zip-ship program, all customer orders will leave the factory in three to five days.

Bassett Mirror Company will at the April 5-10 Market in the International Home Furnishings Center's Green wing, spaces 170 and 001B.
