Winterthur Names Furniture Curator

Joshua W. Lane has been named the Lois F. and Henry S. McNeil Curator of Furniture at the Winterthur Museum.
Lane starts in his new position April 14.
“Josh Lane is one of the leading scholars in the field of early American furniture, and we look forward to welcoming him to Winterthur,” said Dr. David P. Roselle, director of Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.
Most recently, Lane was furniture curator for Historic Deerfield in Massachusetts. In addition to those duties, Lane was the director of the summer fellowship program from 2005 until 2012. Prior to his tenure at Deerfield, Lane worked at the Connecticut Historical Society and the Stamford Historical Society.
His most recent exhibitions include Into the Woods: Crafting Early American Furniture, an examination of the materials, tools, and evidence of workmanship in furniture: and Furniture Masterworks: Tradition and Innovation in Western Massachusetts, part of Four Centuries of Massachusetts Furniture, a collaborative project involving 11 institutions including Winterthur Museum.
