Vogue Gets North American License for Plasspring

Vogue Bedding has acquired North American licensing rights for a newly developed spring mattress called Plasspring.

Surrey, British Columbia-based Vogue will launch a line of mattresses featuring the new technology at the Jan. 11-14 Canadian Home Furnishings Market, Space 5040, in Toronto.

The Plasspring mattress contains an architecturally designed thermoplastic spring that was developed and designed in England. Testing to European standards rated it five times stronger than conventional steel springs and more environmentally friendly.

In Toronto, Vogue will display three models, including king and queen sizes, retailing approximately from $1,600 to $2,100.

"We are also working on a design for an adjustable model for possible release in 2015 if testing is favorable," said Vogue's Darren Law.

While the licensing company for Plasspring is in England, the spring manufacturing is from Indonesia.

"They were working on it for about four years before we contacted them about a year ago," Law said. "We are looking for new ideas, as the large manufactures with their mergers are trying to squeeze the market more and more, (and) make product that is new, innovative and different."
