Home furnishings retailer Leon & Lulu the Michigan chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers will host a Chair-ity fundraiser on Thursday.
The event at the Clawson, Mich., store runs 5-8 p.m., and will benefit Turning Point, a Mt. Clemens shelter that provides programs and resources for victims of domestic and sexual abuse. ASID is enlisting local designers to create temporary living spaces at Turning Point for occupants seeking refuge from violence.
Guests will enjoy light refreshments, shopping, and bidding in a silent auction on one-of-a-kind chair-acters transformed by designers from abandoned chairs into whimsical works of art in the likenesses of movie characters and creative creatures. Entertainment will include a secret vote ballot to determine the audience favorite, an awards presentation, and door prizes for attendees.
Funds raised from the auction as well as 10 percent of all purchases made at Leon & Lulu will be donated to Turning Point to support its goal of keeping people safe from violence and enabling survivors to regain control of their lives.
A single admission costs $12, $20 will admit two. Cash and checks will be accepted at the door, and tickets can also be purchased in advance here.

Omni Sales and Marketing has completed its acquisition of Kansas City-based sales organization L.L. Wright.
The move gives Dallas-based Omni a sales team representing Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and North and South Dakota.
The merging of the two companies completes the joining together of two longstanding professional marketing and sales organizations with over 70 years of combined experience," said Jim Berk, Omnis president. "Omnis Dallas Market Center showroom anchors the team that serves the strongest economic market in the U.S. today."
"By joining forces with Omni, L L Wright Associates, now a division of Omni, brings added value to both the customers and lines we represent, said Larry Wright, president of the newly formed Omni division. "Many of our current and over 15 newly added lines will be shown in the Omni Showroom, Suite 333, of the World Trade Center, during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market starting June 20. We dont expect much to change from a customer service perspective other than increased opportunity for all.
Omnis nearly 15,000-square-foot showroom presence in the World Trade Center creates new opportunity for retailers and vendors alike.
Since the closing of the Kansas City based showrooms, more and more of our traditional customers are finding their way to the Dallas Market Center, Wright said.
This merger will allow many more retailers and designers to touch and feel the various lines we represent by visiting the showroom during market or any time they wish," Berk added. "The showroom is open every day the DMC is open, not just during scheduled Markets. Equally as important, we can also now better service our showroom customers to the north with field sales representative follow up and good old fashion customer service.
