Mobel Sets High Point Debut

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedroom on September 12, 2012

Bedroom and occasional vendor Mobel will make its High Point Market debut next month.

The U.S.-based manufacturer will exhibit its line in a 2,679-square-foot showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center D-1035.

"During our 41-year history, we've shown at a few regional markets, but never in High Point," said Ken Lamkin, president, adding that, until now, the company has focused its marketing efforts on direct sales. "However, today's marketplace is so competitive, we realized we need a presence in High Point. Retailers make most of their buying decisions based on what they see at markets, so it's important that we keep our products in front of customers."

Founded in 1971, Mobel produces its furniture in a 200,000-square-foot facility in Ferdinand, Ind. The facility includes manufacturing, warehousing, finishing and shipping space.

Mobel offers a wide selection of designs that appeal to a variety of market segment, Lamkin said.

"Each one of our wood beds, dressers, nightstands and chests is designed with graceful curves, eye-pleasing proportions and beautiful finishes for lasting, affordable elegance," he said.

A custom program called Mobel Makeover enables consumers to design the look they want by changing the finish or hardware with a variety of options.

With its High Point showing, Mobel aims to expand sales with its current base of customers in the East while also reaching out to new customers in other regions, Lamkin said.

"We're excited to be coming to High Point after all these years," he said. "We expect to have a very good show."
