SFC Sets High Point Agenda

The Sustainable Furnishings Council has announced its activities for the upcoming High Point Market, which kick off with an opening night party, Saturday, April 17, at 5:30 p.m., hosted by The Phillips Collection, IHFC-C202.

Groups participating in the party include American Society of Furniture Designers, Young Home Furnishings Executives, Accessories Resource Team, WithIt, and the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

Monday, April 19:
* 2 p.m., IHFC-H1104, "SELLINGreen: 10 Things Every Seller Needs to Know." Lorts hostys a showroom event to give designers and buyers the knowledge to buy green products and make green sales.
 
* 5 p.m., 301 N. Hamilton, "A Chat with Thom About What's Eco-Friendly." Vanguard Furniture, the SFC and award-winning designer, author, and host of Style Network's "Dress My Nest" Thom Filicia discuss the influence of sustainability in Filicia's work, evidenced by the Thom Filicia Home Collection.
 
* 5 p.m., IHFC-Interhall 104, "SELLINGreen: 10  Things Every Seller Needs to Know." Nathan Anthony and Toray Ultrasuede Eco Design invite market buyers and designers to join them in an SFC presentation that will give participants the knowledge to buy green products and make green sales.
 
Tuesday, April 20:
* 4:30-5:30 p.m., Mill Village, 1014 Mill Ave., "DESIGNINGreen 2010: New Policies, Products & Procedures." This hour long course is ideal for beginner/intermediate sustainable interior practitioners, as well as for retailers selling eco-friendly home furnishings. It includes assessment of current environmental issues, government policy, and new legislation; and the latest consumer research on awareness, buying interest, and purchase motivation for eco-options detailed.  Co-hosted by Cisco Brothers and Ultrasuede, and presented by Jeff Hiller, LEED AP and president of the SFC. Authentically prepared Mexican cuisine and Ultrasuede wine bar follow, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 21: 
* 9 a.m., Market Square, fifth floor, "SELLINGreen:  10 Things Every Seller Needs to Know." Century Furniture and Toray Ultrasuede Eco Design invite market buyers and designers to an SFC question-format event that will help them buy and sell green product; continental breakfast.

* 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Suites at Market Square, top floor, "GreenLeaders Certified Sustainability Training." Modules include Environmental Concerns, Consumer Understanding, Product Sourcing, Sales Technique, Interior Design, and Showroom Operations. Fast-paced and fact-filled, the course is delivered in a lively format that makes critical information easy to absorb. Box lunch included. Fee is $299. Pre-registration required:  919-621-2202.
