The High Point Market will host more than 70 international buying organizations—including 300 buyers from 41 countries—next week. The newcomers include a delegation from Jordan with 20 delegates from 14 companies.
High Point Market officials credit the visit by the executives from Jordan with the event’s participation in the International Buying Program and ongoing assistance from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The International Buying Program designation, which officially begins with the Spring Market, is designed to connect U.S. companies with overseas customers and raise awareness of designated business events to potential customers around the world.
“It further demonstrates the global reach of High Point, because we are the only Market able to offer the product introductions in every category at every price point and the only Market which offers services catering to the specific needs of foreign market participants,” said Market Authority President and CEO Brian Casey. “Once again, a major international buying delegation is bound for High Point, along with hundreds of other first-time and regular international visitors who have chosen High Point as their market.”
He said High Point is particularly excited about the visit of the delegation from Jordan, where real estate investments are expected to reach $50 billion over the next few years. He said the country has also seen announced investments of $10 billion in two booming tourism areas.
“Once completed, such projects will result in significant demand for all types of furnishings, and we know that exhibitors here will welcome these opportunities,” Casey said.
