S.C. Retailer Lawsons to Relocate

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on September 2008 Lawsons Home Furnishings in Aiken, S.C., will double its size to 35,000 square feet when it relocates to a new location next year, the Aiken Standard reported Monday.

Construction is expected to start soon on the new location, where Lawsons is waiting for completion of a site survey.

“We should start as soon as we get that done,” Lawsons Operations Manager Randy Laster said in the report. “We will hopefully be open by spring or summer of 2009.”

Lawsons’ key vendors include Ashley, La-Z-Boy, Broyhill and Lane. Laster said the current location has limited storage space, since the warehouse is on the second floor of the building. He also said the retailer will likely hire more staff to accommodate increased volume.

The new store will feature a Broyhill gallery and La-Z-Boy comfort studio.
