A group of eight La-Z-Boy stores in the Southeast were able to deliver 11 tractor-trailer loads of gently used furniture to charitable groups through a Semi-Annual Trade-In Sale that begins again Wednesday.
The La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores that are offering discounts of up to $250 for donations of used furniture in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia are operated by Tipperary Sales, Augusta, Ga.
From Oct. 1 to Nov. 3, customers trading in suitable furniture will get a trade-in credit of $150 on a new chair and $250 on a new sofa. Shoppers can get the same discount by making a donation of $25 the customer’s charity of choice.
In addition, more than $16,000 in cash donations were distributed to charities.
“It’s become part of our charitable commitment the communities we serve. We are pleased that it has such a large and far-reaching impact,” said Martha Brown, co-owner of Tipperary Sales, which operates the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores.
Last year, the trade-ins filled 11 53-foot trucks that delivered the items to charitable groups that include Augusta Urban Ministries of Augusta, Ga.; Low Country Food Bank of Charleston, S.C.; Assistance League of Charlotte/Pineville, N.C.; the Oliver Gospel Mission of Columbia, S.C.; Miracle Hill Ministries of Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C.; and Middle Georgia Food Bank of Macon, Ga.
