Lane to Shutter Factory in Pontotoc, Miss.

By Home Furnishings Business in Case Goods on June 2008 Lane Furniture is closing its factory in Pontotoc, Miss., later this summer.

The factory that opened in 1976 will phase out manufacturing between July 7 and September.

A division of Furniture Brands International, Lane said in a release that the continuing weakness of furniture sales impacted the decision to close the factory.

Most of the Pontotoc factory’s 200 employees have been offered positions at Lane’s Belden, Miss., facility.
