New Furniture Bank in Chattanooga

The Chattanooga Furniture Bank, a collaboration between the Salvation Army and the United Way, has opened, WDEF reported Wednesday.

The operation provides used furniture to families displaced by disaster, or families moving off the streets into homes.

"What we're hoping to do for families is offer them a bed for each family member a sofa and a couch some place to sit an end table maybe a book shelf a dresser a kitchen table and chairs where they can sit and have a meal," said United Way's John Hayes in the report.
