Foamex, Linwood, Pa., will shut its Eddystone, Pa., Technical Products factory in the first quarter of 2008 and shift production to its operation in Fort Wayne, Ind., which is being expanded.
The move will produce annualized cost savings of more than $5 million, and the Eddystone factory’s riverfront real estate will be sold after it closes.
“Expanding the technical and specialty foam sector of the industry is a top priority,” said CEO Jack Johnson. “Consolidating these operations will allow us to further standardize processes, lower costs and improve customer service, thereby enabling us to be more competitive.”
Foamex produces foam products for the bedding, furniture, carpet cushion and automotive markets. It also makes high-performance polymers for the industrial, aerospace, defense, electronics and computer industries.
