American Furniture Hall Of Fame Expands Membership

By Home Furnishings Business in High Point on June 2007 The American Furniture Hall of Fame, High Point, is opening up membership to all home furnishings industry partners that do business in the United States.

Membership includes eligibility to vote for inductees nominated for the American Furniture Hall of Fame and the opportunity to help preserve the history and heritage of the industry. Previously, international companies with headquarters overseas or in Canada were not eligible for membership.

“By joining the American Furniture Hall of Fame, new members will have the opportunity to determine the leaders in the industry who will preserve our past and lead us into the future,” said J. Don Coleman, the organization’s president. “We invite the industry to join and help us select the leaders who have set the standards for creativity, innovation, dedication and generosity.

In April 2006, the Hall of Fame revealed a 50-foot-wide exhibit honoring its inductees and the industry’s history at the Plaza Building of Merchandise Mart Properties in High Point. The organization hosts a gala banquet each October to honor the newest winners of the Hall of Fame’s “Affie” awards.

Memberships that carry the eligibility to vote for future inductees cost $500 at the individual level and $1,000 at the corporate level, and contributions are tax deductible. Checks to the American Hall of Fame Foundation should be mailed to P.O. Box 2011, High Point, N.C., 27261.
