FurnishNet Index: Year-over-year Retailer Purchases Up Slightly in May

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on June 2007 Year-over-year retailer purchases climbed 3.04 percent in May 2007 compared to May 2006. May’s increase was the fourth increase for the year, though significantly smaller than the dramatic increase reported in April.

As a result, the year-to-date trend dropped slightly to 7.68 percent over the first five months of 2006.

In addition, month-to-month retailer purchasing volume dropped 5.9 percent in May compared to April purchasing volume. The May decline was significant compared to the 28 percent increase from April to May of 2006.
