Woolrich CEO Roswell Brayton Jr. Passes Away

By Home Furnishings Business in on March 2007 Roswell Brayton Jr., president and chief executive officer of outdoor apparel and lifestyle brand Woolrich, has died. He was 55-years-old.

Brayton collapsed Monday afternoon at Woolrich headquarters in Woolrich, Pa. He was rushed to Jersey Shore Hospital where medical personnel were unable to revive him, the company said in an announcement Wednesday.

A member of the sixth generation of the company’s founding family, Brayton grew up in Woolrich, Pa., and joined the company in 1978. He became president of Woolrich in 1996 and assumed the role of CEO in 1997.

Brayton is survived by his wife, Sally, and seven children.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 15 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Williamsport, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brayton Family Scholarship Fund and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
