Rock and pop duo Hall & Oates will kick off High Point Market’s “Stars Under the Stars” nightly event at the Showplace tent Monday evening, March 26.
With more than 60 million albums sold, Daryl Hall and John Oates’ rich repertoire includes eight number-one singles, along with dozens of hits throughout the past three decades. Top singles include: “Rich Girl,” “Kiss On My List,” “Maneater,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” “Sara Smile,” “She’s Gone,” “One On One,” and 2002’s “Do It For Love.” Their latest album, Our Kind of Soul, features timeless classics, as well as new material borrowed from their Philadelphia roots.
On Tuesday, March 27, dinner under the tent will be accompanied by jazz, blues and gospel great Melva Houston, a North Carolina native and one of the most sought-after stars at renowned jazz festivals around the world.
Market guests can then rock-and-roll with Eddie Money on Wednesday night, March 28, singing his ‘70s hits “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” and “Take Me Home Tonight,” while sampling a variety of food and beverage stations, and enjoy dinner with Market-favorite The Cookie Band on Thursday.
On Friday, it’s time for the slick look, cool attitude and funky sounds of Morris Day and the Time, lots more food and beverage stations to choose from, and a full dinner service on Saturday evening.
“Once again this Market, we’re planning a jam-packed concert series with something for nearly every musical taste,” says Brian D. Casey, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority, the official sponsor of the High Point Market. “We’re also pairing each of our events with enticing menus to make it easy for our guests to grab a bite and unwind after a productive day here at Market. We’re continuing to work on improving the Market experience for all concerned and we’ll be announcing more events shortly, including news about the popular series launched last Market in the Courtyard at Market Square Suites and Market Square and quality educational experiences sponsored by the Market Authority. All in all, it’s going to be a very exciting week.”
