American Furniture Warehouse has completed its new Super Center location near Longmont, Col., in the city of Firestone. 530,000-square-foot retail and distribution project will open Nov. 6.
The center, Thornton, Col.-based American’s 11 location, includes more than 176,000 square feet of retail space.
The showroom will feature a customer “self-service” level downstairs and a more traditionally designed furniture store layout upstairs.
In designing the new store, American President and Chief Executive Officer Jake Jabs traveled all over the country gaining inspiration from several “big-box” retailers.
“Today’s shopper demands great value and selection, but they also want to be left alone and take whatever they purchase with them—I think we accomplished all of it,” Jabs said.
In addition to three escalators, two restaurants and a Mexican-style Cantina that will sell rustico furniture and accessories, the new facility will feature many innovative ideas that will add to the customer’s buying experience.
The new warehouse/store will have over 350,000 square feet of distribution capabilities.
“Logistics are another reason we did the [$30 million] project,” Jabs said, noting that the suburbs north of the Denver metro area are expected to be Colorado’s fastest growing area over the next 20 years.
Dozens of manufacturers including Sealy, Lane and Ashley have lined-up to participate in a statewide contest giveaway to support the Super Center’s opening festivities. The grand prize is a new custom-painted Corvette valued at nearly $70,000.
