Anti-Dumping Investigation Results Postponed

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedroom on October 2006 The Department of Commerce has announced an extension of the deadline for issuing preliminary results of its administrative and new shipper reviews of Chinese manufacturers of wood bedroom furniture to Jan. 31, 2007.

The original due date was Oct. 3. Final results will be due by early June.

In March, the DOC initiated its reviews of Chinese manufacturers seeking lower or no tariffs resulting from the original anti-dumping investigation on wood bedroom bound for the U.S. market; and of “new shipper” reviews for the period June 24, 2004, through Dec. 31, 2005, a time frame not covered by the original investigation.

Tariff Act of 1930 requires the DOC to issue preliminary results within 245 days after the last day of the anniversary month of an order. However, if it is not practicable to complete the review within this time period, the same act allows an extension of the time period to a maximum of 365 days.

In a Federal Register Notice this week, the DOC said it needed more time to analyze information pertaining to the respondents’ sales practices, factors of production, and corporate relationships; to evaluate certain issues raised by the petitioners; and to issue and review responses to supplemental questionnaires.
