Joe Cory Sr. will be honored by the City of Hope's National Home Furnishings Industry Group with The Spirit of Life Award this spring during the High Point Market.
Cory, chairman and chief executive officer of Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery Service, will be honored alongside the Cartledge and Bennett families, owners of Grand Home Furnishings.
In its 45-year history, the National Home Furnishings Industry Group has raised more than $45 million for cancer research, treatment and education at City of Hope, one of the nations leading research and treatment centers for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. The event will take place April 18 at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons.
Its an honor to be recognized by City of Hope, an organization that speeds research into new therapies for patients with life-threatening diseases, Cory said. We are proud to support innovative science and lifesaving treatments so that some day cures can be found.
CORY 1st Choice Home Delivery Service was founded in 1934 in Brooklyn, N.Y., by Corys father Joseph Cory, and is the nations premier home delivery company. It has more than 300 employees, operates more than 500 delivery trucks and delivers products in 38 states, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
A Brooklyn native, Joe Cory and his brother Jim Cory helped develop their fathers business into one of the nations leading delivery businesses in the industry. They have stayed true to their fathers philosophy of maintaining a close-knit, family-like business and work environment for CORY's customers, employees and vendors.
We are grateful for Joe Corys support for advanced research and treatments for patients with cancer and other life-threatening diseases, said Michael Sandler, director of development, City of Hope. Through CORYs commitment, together we can help further advanced research and ensure patients everywhere benefit from new treatments and therapies.
