Grid2 Names Partners

By Home Furnishings Business in on January 2006 by Sheila Long O'Mara

Grid2 International has made two key members of its staff partners.

Marcelo Albertal and Dimitri Vermes join the strategic design company's Martin Roberts, Betty Chow and Akka Ma in leadership roles.

Albertal, 46, is responsible for the company's architectural design area, specializing in the development of Latin American markets. Prior to joining Grid2, Albertal designed theaters for Roger Morgan Studio in New York, and before that, he was founder and president of Graphite Escritoire de Acquitter, a shopping center and retail design company in Brazil.

Vermès, 31, has been with Grid2 since 1998 overseeing the marketing and account management departments, as well as the company's proprietary consumer research operation. Past clients include Arby's, Bacardi, Borders Books, Cartier, Freshgo, HDS Relay North America, Pathmark, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, L'Oreal, and Saatchi & Saatchi.

"Marcelo and I have worked together for over 10 years and I have seen first hand the level of energy, expertise and creativity he applies to all he does," said Roberts, president and principal of Grid2. "Opening up and expanding the Latin American markets for us is a challenge that I know Marcelo accepts with great gusto.

"Dimitri has been a key player in leading Grid2's success with his innovative strategic marketing and consumer research leadership" he said. 'We are pleased to recognize his contributions through this much-deserved promotion."

In addition, the company has relocated its New York headquarters to 37 18th St., near Union Square. The new office will accommodate the company's larger staff and projects. The new space is 7,500 square feet.

"This is a critical time for both domestic and global development for our company," Roberts said. "The expansion into our new headquarters is indicative of this, as well as the introduction of our new partners who will allow us to remain at the forefront of US and international retail design."
