Leather Italia has opened a 150,000-square-foot warehouse in Phoenix stocked with its best-selling frames.
The Leland, N.C.-based leather supplier opened the center in December and has been shipping from it since mid-January. Michael Campbell, Leather Italia president, said the company is leasing the space now and plans to find a warehouse to buy within the next 12 to 14 months.
The decision to open the warehouse was driven by the desire to better serve Leather Italia's West Coast retail customers.
In addition to the Phoenix location, the company is adding 58,000 square feet to its warehouse in North Carolina. The addition will take the company's space there to 292,000 square feet.
"The additional space will allow us to keep up with the business we've got coming in, as well as open up new customers in the West," said Deb Linkhorn, vice president of marketing and communications.
