Hooker Names Wingo Merchandising Director

By Home Furnishings Business in Executive Changes on April 17, 2013

Hooker Furniture has promoted Erica Wingo from senior product manager to merchandising director.

Wingo joined Hooker in 2007 after graduating at the top of her class in the Home Furnishings Marketing program at High Point University, earning the Haverty Cup Award. Since joining Hooker, she has worked in several departments including customer service and marketing communications before moving to merchandising full-time in 2010.

She has led product development efforts in several successful product introductions including the Rhapsody Collection, which received broad end consumer acceptance immediately upon hitting retail floors in fall of 2012. Along with Merchandising Director Cindy Hall, she developed the Melange Accents Collection beginning in 2010, which has grown into one of the top selling collections at Hooker. Also along with Hall, Wingo has been the co-recipient of two Pinnacle Design Awards for Melange. For the upcoming High Point Furniture Market, she has developed the expansion of Melange into bedroom and dining categories.

€œErica has become an integral part of our merchandising team, and has led several very successful product introductions,€ said Alan Cole, president of Hooker. €œWe believe that this expansion of her role is a recognition of her growing impact on our product direction both now and in the future.€

Reporting to Senior Vice President Hank Long, Wingo is responsible for developing Melange, Hooker Collections and the bedroom category.
