We all enjoy hearing--and telling--stories about how a company was started, about our leaders or about I remember when experiences, said Randy Ford, Foundation president. These stories are a part of our heritage. They knit us together as an industry, rich with lifelong relationships and shared memories.
We promise to make it quick and easy for you, so as you wrap up your day, please make a point to stop by and Tell Us Your Story. Be a part of the History Project and help the Hall preserve our joint history.
The stories, captured on video, will have three purposes. First, excerpts will be presented at our October Banquet, in celebration of the Furniture Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary. Stories will be shared on the Foundation Web site, and each will be entered into the Foundation archives for future use as a video and written document.
"Our industry has a wonderful history," said Michael Amini, founder of AICO. "Its the stories we tell that keep our history alive and educates the next generation. I want to invite anyone with a story to tell to come to our showroom and add to the legacy of this great industry."
The Foundation is seeking stories that for example, might reflect how a retailer continued to serve its customers during the Great Depression, how a company was founded or named, or even how a company might have been saved from bankruptcy, says George Cartledge, incoming Foundation president. Think about the turning points as well as some of the quirky things that have happened and are fondly remembered. We want the stories that you love to tell.
The Foundation also is collecting company history books and historic photos to build its collection and further preserve the industrys history. These materials can be sent to the American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. at 202 Neal Pl., High Point, N.C. 27262.
