Taracea Expands in High Point

By Home Furnishings Business in Case Goods on March 7, 2013

High-end case goods vendor Taracea is tripling the size of its High Point Furniture Market show space in the historic Radio Building.

After completing extensive restoration of the building€™s 5,000 square-foot, first floor last fall, which included a massive art installation, Taracea presented a limited number of its products in the new space during the October trade show. Since then, the company has added the building€™s lower level and second floor, for a total of 15,000 square feet.

The newly occupied second floor will be segmented to display furniture products from the company€™s collections in the traditional, transitional and contemporary categories, as well as original artwork by Taracea founder Javier Suárez and large scale art from artist Maria Teresa Suárez. A collection of nature inspired prints from Natural Curiosities by Christopher Wilcox also will be featured.

At the mezzanine level, Taracea will exhibit some of its more innovative designs on hand-painted floors, with walls covered in reclaimed wood from the manufacturer€™s own forests. The building€™s basement is being converted into a gallery for Taracea's Selva Maya collection of products, which includes one-of-a-kind items such as a table crafted from a 16-foot wood slab and oversized wood sculptures.

Work is under way now to create a cohesive presentation of Taracea furnishings among the three contiguous floors. The Mexico-based, vertically integrated company is known for its handcrafted wood furniture, including an authentically reproduced line for the impressive mid-19th century Hearst Castle, a National Historical Landmark mansion located on the Central Coast of California. Taracea€™s customized furniture capabilities make it a popular resource among interior designers and architectural specifiers.

€œWe are very committed to High Point Market and to the designers and dealers that we serve during the show,€ said Javier Palacios, managing director of Taracea. €œIt has been an exciting journey for us to preserve and at the same time to give new life to one of the city€™s historic buildings at the heart of the market.

€œAfter 15 years of successful High Point Markets, we are thrilled to present our product lines in one of the most exciting spaces at the show, where we have been able to express our creativity and passion to the fullest.€

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and presentation is planned for the expanded showroom on Sat., April 20, at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow.
