San Diego-based Jerome's Furniture has partnered with The Salvation Army to pick up customers' gently used, unwanted furniture and donate it to the non-profit, serving the San Diego region and beyond.
For an additional $20 fee, customers can schedule a Jerome's pick up for their old furniture at the time of new furniture delivery. Jerome's will donate the furniture to The Salvation Army on behalf of the customer, where it will then be resold in seven San Diego County stores, funding the charity's various programs. Customers will be provided with a tax-deductible donation receipt during pick up.
"Most people don't know what to do with old furniture when they redecorate their homes. It can be a real dilemma," said Jerry Navarra, chairman of Jerome's. "This is an easy way for our customers to donate their furniture to someone who may really need it. It's a way the Jerome's family can team up with our customers and give back to families in need."
The Salvation Army assists more than 31 million people each year throughout the United States. Donations go to fund the charity's adult rehabilitation centers, domestic violence shelters, drug rehabilitation programs and job training to give individuals a fresh start.
"At the (Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center), we believe in restoring individuals to their loved ones through a comprehensive program that includes counseling, work therapy and spiritual development," said Major Henry Graciani, administrator of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in San Diego. "Your donation to The Salvation Army helps fund our much needed program where those in the grip of addiction find help, hope and a second chance at life."
