Pier 1 Jumps into E-Commerce

Home furnishings retailer Pier 1 Imports has entered into the e-commerce business with its revamped Web site.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based retailer's Web site offers shipping within the continental United States. The site also give consumers the option of paying for products online and then picking those purchases up in a Pier 1 store, saving on shipping charges.

The Web site offers better navigation of the company's product, as well as a "Get Inspired" section filled with ideas and a "Learn How" area with content with decorating tips.

"We are extremely delighted with the successful launch of our new e-commerce enabled Web site that allows customers to shop our unique array of merchandise while selecting the shipping destination of their choice," said Alex W. Smith, president and CEO.
