By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on August 3, 2012

The British are coming! The British are coming!

British-born retailer sofa.com has opened its first location in the U.S. in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.

The retailer specializes in made-to-order business and offers more than 60 fabrics.

"We look forward to introducing both urban apartment dwellers and suburban home owners to our enjoyable and easy approach to buying great sofas," said Emma Drew, director of public relations and marketing for the company. "Whether you have an appreciation for home décor, an eye for one-of-a-kind pieces, or just need a little help finding the perfect sofa for your needs, our 'comfy team' is on hand to guide you through our unparalleled shopping experience."

Committed to promoting self-expression, the retailer can also cover any of its sofas, chairs and footstools in designer fabrics, as well as in its house collection of fabrics.

Designed and manufactured in Europe, the company's furniture will be available to consumers in and around a 100-mile radius of Manhattan. The showroom is located at 601 West 26th St., 17th Floor.
