He also is directly involved in troubleshooting foam-related problems, working directly with customers and their quality control staffs. He joins a dedicated team of researchers that introduced the foam industry to PIPA polyol technology, melamine fire retardant, acetone as an auxiliary blowing agent and, more recently, the world€™s first bio-based foams including a new bio-viscoelastic foam.

€œHickory Springs has always been a forerunner in the development of new types of polyurethane foam,€ said Bobby Bush, senior vice president of foam and environmental technology of Hickory Springs. €œWith his distinguished R&D expertise, we look forward to seeing how Vijay will help lead Hickory Springs€™ foam division to new heights of innovation, diversification and customer satisfaction.€

Nadgir has an extensive background in polyurethane foam with more 18 years of experience. Most recently, he spent the past six years with Invista in Wilmington, N.C., where he supervised a lab with an R&D staff of 10 people and provided tech service for customers around the world. Prior to that, he spent 12 years with ER Carpenter in Richmond, Va., where he began work as a research associate in 1994, then rose to chemicals division manager by the time he left the company in 2006.
Originally from India, Nadgir earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bombay, India; an MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville; and a PhD in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry from Auburn University. He has participated in various CPI, PIMA, SPFA meetings throughout the USA and UTECH in Europe.
