Online home furnishings retailer Wayfair has launched a global partnership with Habitat for Humanity International to help build and rehabilitate affordable homes.
Through the donation of building materials and household goods, as well as financial support and volunteer mobilization, Wayfair will help advance Habitat's work toward eliminating poverty housing and homelessness.
"At Wayfair, we spend every day helping people create the surroundings that make a house a home," said Niraj Shah, CEO and co-founder of Wayfair. "We understand the power and meaning of home and believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel safe and secure in a place they can call home. Wayfair is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to make home a reality for more of the many people in need of safe, decent and affordable shelter."
Wayfair.com will celebrate the partnership launch today by inviting customers to participate in a promotion this month called "You Get, We Give." For every purchase of a lighting fixture or lamp greater than $75, Wayfair will make a $5 donation to Habitat for Humanity. Consumers can choose from a selection of more than 9,000 chandeliers, 15,000 pendants, 12,000 outdoor lights and 16,000 lamps. In addition to similar promotions and ongoing donations of building materials, furniture and appliances, Wayfair.com will feature a donation option at check-out to help raise consumer awareness and funds for the cause.
"We are delighted to welcome Wayfair to the Habitat family, and we're grateful for their partnership," said Kymberly Wolff, senior vice president of development at Habitat for Humanity International. "Wayfair employees have already spent three days building a Habitat home in Boston, and we look forward to strengthening our global reach and impact through Wayfair's ongoing support."
