Fire Ravages Island Furniture Near Corpus Christi

A fire Sunday at a Padre Island, Texas, furniture store is under investigation, the Corpus Christi Caller Times reported Monday.

Firefighters responded Sunday night to a blaze at Island Living Furniture. Owner Shawn McGregor was in Dallas at the time, but friends at a birthday party nearby kept him apprised on the fire by phone.

Fire officials said the damage ran from $500,000 to $700,000.

McGregor said the store will honor outstanding orders, and he hopes to have updated information for customers on the store's Web site by Wednesday.
