Talon Systems, a Canadian manufacturer of storage cabinets, dressers, shelves, computer desks, television stands and partitions will open a plant in Statesville, N.C., that will employ 90 people over the next three years.
Governor Bev Perdue
announced the move Thursday. Talon will invest $5.9 million in the project, which received a $46,590 grant from One North Carolina Fund.
"This is the latest example of North Carolina's ability to attract international companies looking for the perfect U.S. location to invest and grow," Perdue said. I will continue to foster a business climate that helps new companies locate here and existing companies expand.
Talon Systems is a 50-year-old, privately owned Canadian manufacturer of ready-to-assemble furniture and organizational units. Based in Ontario, the company currently employs more than 150 workers and makes veneer storage cabinets, dressers, shelves, computer desks, TV stands, partitions and many other products. Talon products are sold in Costco, Lowes, Ikea, Home Depot, Sears and other retail outlets in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Others who assisted with this project include: the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges, N.C. Rural Economic Development Center, Iredell County and the City of Statesville.
