Sprinkler Malfunction Shuts Detroit-Area Ikea

By Home Furnishings Business in on December 16, 2009

Talk about putting a damper on holiday sales. A Detroit-area Ikea store in Canton, Mich., had to shut its doors due to flooding caused by a sprinkler malfunction, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.

An Ikea spokeswoman told the paper it would be "a couple of days" before the store could reopen.

"We're looking at a couple days" before the store reopens, she said.

No estimate was available on the cost of the damage. The spokeswoman said the store would reopen before Christmas.
