Case goods manufacturer Stanley Furniture, Stanleytown, Va., has told its California retailers via e-mail that its products will comply with California Air Resource Board formaldehyde regulation by March 10, 10 months ahead of CARB's Dec. 31, 2010, sell-through deadline for non-compliant goods.
The original regulation, effective Jan. 1 this year, included an 18-month sell-through period for finished goods inventory enabling manufacturers, distributors and retailers to deplete inventory and floor samples prior to June 30, 2010. CARB recently extended the date to the end of 2010.
"With so much experience in manufacturing furniture for infants and kids, regulatory compliance is simply standard operating procedure at Stanley," said Kevin Bowman, Stanley's vice president of sales. "Our goal is to ensure that compliance transitions like these are seamless and that our retailersʼ businesses remain uninterrupted."
Stanley Furniture will distribute the second of its CARB-compliance communications to California retailers in late February.
